Faced with either a mistrial for discovery abuses, or even more likely, a huge judgment against them, the NCAA and the University of Washington have settled the wrongful termination/civil conspiracy lawsuit brought by former head coach (and law school classmate of the author) Rick Neuheisel for just under $5 million.

And then there was none...Ohio State 65, Illinois 64. Thrilling comeback by the Buckeyes, who will be sitting out the Tournament due to probation. First-year coach Thad Matta, whose Xavier team ended St. Joe's unbeaten run in the first round of the Atlantic 10 tournament last year, has now upset the last perfect team for the second consecutive year.

The NCAA has released its preliminary numbers on academically at-risk programs. Included among those programs, which could lose scholarships if they don't get things together, are the football programs at Ohio State, UCLA, and Penn State. The PAC-10, with six academically sub-standard football teams, has the ignomonious distinction of being Dumb Jock Central.
